Oklahomans are no strangers to giving back. In 2016, people in Oklahoma gave more than $2.5 billion to charities and served nearly 94 million service hours. Local Tulsa businesses are no exception to this - they are coming together to honor and award other local businesses in the Tulsa area for giving back in a big way.

University of Tulsa Athletics is partnering with other organizations to put on the second annual Golden Heart Award contest. The Golden Heart Award honors small businesses in the greater Tulsa area who have made a significant impact in their community. This award is not judged solely by monetary giving but also by the overall involvement of the entire company.

Last year, there were over 50 nominees which was narrowed down to 3 winners, including one grand prize winner. Belle Vita Spa and Salon was the grand prize winner last year due to their day of beauty for cancer patients. Over $20,000 are up for grabs for this year's grand prize winner.
