Description
Blood donors will receive their choice of a University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University OBI T-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the 2014 Bedlam football game**.
The purpose of the walk is to celebrate and honor local children and their families affected by childhood cancer and to raise funds for life-saving pediatric cancer research. CureSearch funds the Children's Oncology Group (COG) which conducts clinical trials for all types of childhood cancers in more than 200 hospitals across the country, including here in Tulsa.
“We are honored to partner and encourage blood donation during Tulsa’s CureSearch Walk for Children's Cancer,” said Dr. John Armitage, OBI president and CEO. “Maintaining safe, sufficient supplies of blood products is vital to hundreds of children in our state battling cancer and other life-threatening health conditions every day of the year.”
Oklahoma Blood Institute exclusively provides every drop of blood needed by patients in the Saint Francis Health System which includes The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis. Some 150 other medical facilities across the state rely solely on OBI donors to provide life-saving blood for their patients.
Blood can be given every 56 days. To find out more or make an appointment to donate, call 877-340-8777 or schedule online at www.obi.org.
