The City of Bixby has scheduled a Town Hall Meeting on the Downtown River District for Tuesday March 8th, at 6:30pm at City Hall. In this meeting, the public will be divided into small groups for a brain-storming session to further develop ideas and projects to be implemented in the Downtown River District as part of the 4 For Bixby initiative passed in November, 2015.
“It’s time to begin gathering and processing the input from our citizens that will to help bring Bixby’s Downtown River District to life. Funds from the recently approved Vision 2025 tax extension will be available in early 2017, and we want to be ready to move forward as soon as possible,” said Jared Cottle, Bixby City Manager.
Ideas presented will center around the vision of the Arkansas River public access points and a revitalized downtown Bixby as presented to voters, Cottle said. “We are ready to move beyond the broad concept stage and start developing the programming and amenities that people most want, and prioritizing how we will accomplish the work,” he said.
City staff members will be on hand to moderate the small groups and will document the ideas presented. After compiling ideas and adding any comments, a prioritized project list will be presented at a follow-up Town Hall Meeting to be held in May for public review and comment.
